This project is Manor Academy’s response to the Secondary Schools Arts Project
The Experiences of Young People living through COVID-19.
The artwork will have a double meaning. In years to come people will see it and not realise that it is about the pandemic straight away.
They will see brightly coloured silhouettes of people living life and it will be a celebration of our community and the things we can do.
The other side of it is about the pandemic. That rainbow of colours will refer to the rainbow thanking the NHS and the silhouettes are a celebration of our determination, our community spirit, our love of one another and support we can give to one another in the face of adversity. They overlap and the colours interact despite each silhouette being separated into their own plane or space. Pupils have then added their own meaning into each figure, for example Izzie having her figures weaving through a ‘face-time’ window.
