Extended Schools Provision
Manor Academy Extended Schools Provision
At Manor Academy the curriculum is supported by a wide range of enrichment activities to enhance learning and provide our young people with as many opportunities as possible to develop their skills and attributes so that they are able to contribute and participate in their communities, and society as a whole. The school recognises that young people with special educational needs can have significant difficulties in accessing mainstream social and leisure activities, and we have developed a unique extra-curricular offer that includes an extended school day to support families and ensure that pupils remain engaged, motivated, safe and healthy.
We offer lunch clubs as well as breakfast clubs, after-school clubs and off-site visits. Activities are planned that enhance pupils’ learning and, through real life experience, enable them to develop a better understanding of the world around them. These include many sporting activities such as basketball, football, zumba and trampollining and sporting competitions with local schools, and we organise regular trips outside of school time to the theatre and to concerts.
Residential experiences are offered at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 and all young people have access to these with specialist teams. Our Year 7 trip to the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust is now a firmly established tradition, as is our Year 12 expedition to Wales. This year pupils from Years 8 and 9 accessed a trip to Bishpham Scout Centre where they engaged in arts and crafts activities alongside a wide range of exciting outdoor activities and the Year 10 residential was to Paris. Students who participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award have traversed many a hillside on their overnight expedition under canvas to gain their Bronze and Silver awards!
